My efile failed. needed an update, updated. Still fails. Still needs update, but no update.

Having same problem e-filing Federal and 2 states (need update, but I have applied all updates). Did manual update for Federal and cleared cache & allowed pop-ups for Intuit site - Still had problem. Then was able to e-file Federal ok by itself and then e-file Nebraska by itself. Still can't e-file Iowa by itself. Note: Windows 7 w/ Chrome browser

My efile failed. needed an update, updated. Still fails. Still needs update, but no update.

Finally was able to e-file my IOWA state return after following these instructions to remove Iowa (originally loaded via DVD) and then re-install Iowa via Intuit site!!!

@AmySB  - I just returned to my return today (03/21/2020) and was able to install the updates when opening up turbotax...and I saw that a 03/12 or 13 update was installed...then "all was good" with submitting the state (finally).  The federal was successfully submitted awhile ago.

It seems that TurboTax devs finally pushed a fix.

My efile failed. needed an update, updated. Still fails. Still needs update, but no update.

@airh22   I had the luxury of waiting and earlier in March Turbo Tax pushed a fix - when I logged in today I accepted the automatic updates.

When logging in again...and submitting my state - it went through successfully (or at least no groundhog day error messaging).

I was able to submit my federal before and already received that refund...now I wait for state (MA).

I know I was lucky that I had the luxury of waiting for a fix (that took way too long, but...).  I hope you have ultimately been successful too.

Now how will TurboTax handle its long-term customers that suffered through this for next year?

My efile failed. needed an update, updated. Still fails. Still needs update, but no update.

Hopefully the Windows 10 works well next year, I wasted several hours getting this to work earlier in March (Windows 7) - good thing for google and other users providing work-arounds (I figured Windows 7 had minimal support this year)

There does not appear to a manual update available for Turbotax for Business for Window on those pages.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I use a Mac and am not tech savvy, but I was able to generally follow your instructions and get my forms submitted electronically.  No help from Turbo Tax! Thank you for taking the time to write up this procedure for others.

This didn't work.  I installed the patch, but am still getting the message that I need an update when I try to transmit my returns.   What is the deal and how can this be fixed?

I'm having the same issue. I've re-installed twice now followed all the advice above and I still get the message that updates are needed but there aren't any available when I try to "update"

It appears they have some setting wrong on their downloads that are being blocked at the router level, if you have your router or firewall configured a certain way.    May not work for everyone, but I bypassed my router and connected directly through my cable modem for my internet.   The Turbo Tax update then appeared when I checked online updates and I was able to download it.   It resolved the problem.   Then reconnected my internet back through my router.

Worth a shot if you can't get anything else to work.

"There is an update available for your version of TurboTax.
Before you can file electronically, you'll need to get this update."

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS that this issue is STILL HAPPENING at this point in time!!!! I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have ran a manual update that was suggested(w_perrelsuperpatch_ttax_[phone number removed]).

I've restarted my PC multiple times also AND IT STILL GIVES THIS ERROR TRYING TO E-FILE AND THERE'S NO HELP TO GET IT FIXED!

THIS NEEDS TO BE LISTED AS THE FIX!!!!!!!!!

It's a scary fix as to why it works. Bypassing basic router security let's TurboTax see an update it couldn't see when internet connection ran thru router. Windows 10 also highlights desktop in red right prior to installing the update now found by TurboTax. Red as in, "Are you sure you want to install this update?"

After installing this newfound TurboTax update via the Online Update Check, that couldn't be found with ones computer behind a router, I was able to e-file both federal and state like there was never a problem.

Fortunately for me, taking the router out of the mix was easy. Some won't find it as such.

The TurboTax folks are aware of this fix and are really happy!!!! I was on the phone with them on hold when I came across @jkmizz post right before my own post. When they came back from hold, they were coming to tell me they had nothing to offer. I then told them what I had found and already done while on hold. Excited they were. TBH though, it's scary that this fix was what it took. Bypassing basic router security??????

THANKS @jkmizz !!!! I old the TurboTax people about you. Maybe they'll contact you to thank you proper.
